Pullover made in knitting factory in Ballyferriter in the
1950’s and worn as part of a boy’s Holy Communion
outfit. The factory, originally operated by the order of
the Sisters of the Infant Jesus from the 1930’s and
housed in their convent in the village, finally closed in
the 1950’s. |

This
cannon, found washed up off Smerwick Strand many years ago,
was originally in the possession of Lord Ventry of Burnham
House (now Coláiste Íde). For some time it stood
outside Dingle Library, presented by the Sisters of the college.
It dates from the early years of the 19th century, roughly
the time of Napolean. |

Sword
bayonet, British Army issue of 1888. This weapon was carried
by Pádraig Búdhlaer, Ard na Caithne, Captain
of the Ballyferriter Volunteers, on the march into Tralee
to meet with the Aud just before the Easter Rising of 1916. |

presented to Músaem Chorca Dhuibhne in March 2004 to
mark its participation in the Heritage Council’s Museum
Accreditation Pilot Study, 2001-2004. The piece is Stoneware
Jackson pottery, from Kilkenny. |

piece, carved from local stone, was sculpted by the artist
Fanch Venner, from Maël Carhaix, Brittany. It is of two
girls dancing, one from Corca Dhuibhne and one from Brittany,
and shows how the people of both areas are joined together
as dancers can be. |
